It made me feel as though you really meant it

How you would just look at me a smile

Or randomly tell me you love me on the phone

But perhaps the distance was too much

But while I hoped things would work themselves out

And talk for hours at a time

We always made time for each other

We called each other names and make jokes like good friends

We told each other about our dreams and aspirations

And how much we believed in each other

I thought we would make a difference in each other’s lives

But then, out of nowhere

Things changed

I thought that over time we would work things out
